ISQua Fellowship Programme

The ISQua Fellowship Programme inspires the advancement of quality improvement and patient safety initiatives within the health care industry by fostering a global community of learning and improvement in health care quality and safety. We forge connections between as many health care professionals as possible, enabling them both to share their individual experiences and to learn from the experiences of others.
The Fellowship Programme offers learners unique opportunities to benefit from the three core ISQua values of Knowledge, Network and Voice.

Learn from the thought leaders in the field and start making improvements within your own personal context. Expand your professional network by making new contacts and becoming a valued member of our community. Share your thoughts, ideas and opinions, and showcase your research with like-minded peers. Be recognised for your contribution to the community.

Our internationally recognised online Fellowship Programme offers leading content across key subject areas in health care quality and safety. The opportunity for learning is vast: if you are keen to increase your knowledge, share your ideas, and forge long-lasting connections with like-minded professionals, this programme is for you.

If you are a health care professional, patient or any person who is passionate about improvement, the Fellowship Programme will enable you to achieve your personal goals.

Programme Details

The ISQua Fellowship is a continuing education programme, offering you a unique opportunity to be part of a vibrant global community in which everyone can learn, share and be empowered.

Curriculum

The ISQua Fellowship Programme curriculum is presented under a range of themes, each encompassing a wide range of topical and interactive content in the form of easy-to-follow lessons. Lessons are delivered through a variety of webinar and presentation recordings, practical case studies, publication reviews, and discussions. The Fellowship Programme consists of a vast library of interactive activities, ensuring that there is engaging content available for all health care backgrounds and interests.

This theme focuses on the knowledge, skills, methods and concepts involved in leading for quality and safety. It examines the role of governance, leadership and health policy in a quality-driven environment and the related pitfalls. It also introduces insightful trends pertinent to health care.
Health Information Technology (HIT) is being widely adopted in many developed countries. With advances in technology happening at such a fast rate, it is easy to feel "behind the times". This theme introduces new and innovative ways in which HIT can be utilised to improve quality and safety in health care.
Person-centred care involves considering cultural, family and social circumstances as well as a patient's own values and preferences. It also concerns the patient’s expectations of receiving unbiased information regarding benefits and risks when it comes to their care. This theme looks at ways in which health care professionals can involve patients in their own care, giving the patient a sense of ownership and control at a time when they need it most.
External evaluation systems typically take the form of regulation, licensure, accreditation and certification. This theme introduces participants to ways in which these areas can be approached and implemented.
The issue of patient safety is never far from the health care professional's mind. There is always a possibility of adverse events and medical errors happening in our health care systems, and it is for this reason that patient safety is a priority in health care arenas around the world. This theme provides participants with scenarios and ideas to help minimise the occurrence of medical errors and adverse events in the workplace.
Resource-challenged countries face enormous challenges in delivering safe and quality-driven health care. This theme examines the ways in which those challenges can be tackled and overcome.
Quality improvement is essential in quality and safety in health care. This theme gives participants practical tools to assist them in quality improvement endeavours.
Our content in Critical Crisis Thinking was developed by Professor Erik Hollnagel, Senior Professor of Patient Safety at Jönköping University (Sweden). The main purpose of this content is to provide an overview of what to think about – what to keep in mind – when facing a crisis. Thinking about a crisis is a prerequisite for managing it, and the thinking should preferably have taken place before a crisis hits. The content explores the main characteristics of crises and discusses the problems of maintaining control in a world where complexity increases.

Learning Journeys are a structured path of Fellowship modules which help guide learners on their improvement journey. They can be tailor-made for Fellows based on specific backgrounds and areas of interest. These journeys are very popular with organisations who wish for groups of learners to undertake a shared learning experience in order to achieve organisation-wide objectives. The format of Learning Journeys ensures that all participants contextualise and share their Fellowship experiences with the group and discuss lessons learned.
